After going with my son to a Los Angeles Galaxy game I started to take notice of the MLS. The game we went to, Mr. Buddle scored 2 goals and went on to play for the United States team in the World Cup. I got a couple packs of Upper Deck MLS and got his card and thought I would send it out to him.

The card was originally sent on August 12th 2010, and received back 20 days later on September 1st.

Brian Barton - Topps 2008 Allen & Ginter

Another really fast return, Mr. Barton's return came from the Newark Bears. I got wind of where to send the card to after reading of Cardboardlegends success.

A really fast return from a hometown team. The Los Angeles ~~Angels~~ Dodgers outfielder returned this card in really short time. When I moved to the area in 2002, Garret was a staple in the Angels organization. It's great to get a response from him, and so quick too.

Another card that was returned while I was away from blogging, was Joe Nathan's 2008 Allen and Ginter. Joe Nathan is fantastic, and is great at responding to TTM requests. But I can not say exactly how long it took. Sorry.

It has been a while since I have posted last. I did receive a couple of TTM successes I can post. The first one was from Brian Robiskie. I have seen this happen more often than I would have imagined, but Mr. Robiskie sent two of his own cards to make sure he could inscribe to both of my boys. It never ceases to amaze me the class I have run into while sending these attempts to these athletes. Thanks Brian!

Nothing turns a rough day at work around like your Teams ace returning a signed card to you through the mail. It took a little bit, but its well worth the wait.

The mailbox yielded a nice surprise today. It was none other than a Grady Sizemore return, and not only did he sign the card I sent him, he included one of his own for my youngest son.

Just received Mr. Knox' TTM response in the mail today. This response breaks a long streak of lonely mailbox days. Thanks Johnny for signing and returning the cards, it took a little bit of an edge off a stressful day.

I sent Johnny these cards on the October 4th 2009, and received it back 171 days later on the March 24th 2010.

Pat Neshek - A bunch of Autos

After reading his blog, and seeing how Pat Neshek does not mind multiple card requests TTM I decided to get a few more cards signed. I sent duplicates of the 2010 Topps and the Topps 1952 Rookies cards for him to keep. I like the '52, so I thought he might, and the '10 is so new I thought he may not have it yet. I also went out on a limb and add a short questionnaire.

Today I got a thick envelope back. It included:

I have been on a roll lately with fast returns. Sheriff Arpaio's return is also with in two weeks. He not only sent back the Ginter card I sent but also another card for my collection. In addition he wrote me a personalized letter which he signed, and he returned my unused SASE.

Just received Mr. Davis' TTM response in the mail today. The NFL responses have not be very good. Perhaps I am not doing it correctly. Special thanks to Mr. Davis and the other Rookies that took the time to sign for me. Davis had a good rookie season leading the Dolphins in Interceptions (4) returning one for a defensive TD.

I sent Vontae these cards on the October 4th 2009, and received it back 94 days later on the January 6th 2010.

Another unexpected TTM Success in the mail. This card was postmarked "Phoenix, AZ" so I obviously thought D-back. Instead it was Mr. Hart. My first baseball player in a while, I almost feel tempted to start trying some off season attempts. Almost.

I sent Mr Williams a card a while back. I sent it to an address in California, I think San Diego but the response was from Atlanta. Mr. Williams sent back the card I sent with one of his own. He wanted to send a card to both of my boys which was very thoughtful. Fantastic Signer.

In addition to the two cards, He also sent two decals for the boys.

The card was sent on September 16th 2009, and received back 87 days later on December 12th.

I didn't expect to see this card again any time soon. The signature is pretty crisp and clean in a thing blue sharpie. Mr. Lo Duca was nice enough to sign the Auto Card I sent him too.

The cards were originally sent on September 18th 2009, and received back 52 days later on November 9th. This number is a little misleading as it involves two attempts after the first try was sent back "return to sender" from the Marlin's stadium.

The silence has been broken. The mail box gifts returns. This time it's Bonnie Blair. A speed skater that has 6 Olympic medals, 5 of which are gold. Great TTM responder to anyone considering, and a great person.

I received two nice surprises in the mail today. One is posted here, and the other is a TTM from Mr. Brandstater. Having grown up in Merced, CA. I consider Fresno State to be my "hometown" school in regards to college football. Having said that, I am slowly getting into Collegiate football, so I have no memory of Mr. Brandstater's days as a Bulldog.

I sent Tom this card on the September 3rd 2009, and received it back 16 days later on the 19th.

Great TTM signer. He himself is an autograph collector and knows what it is like to be us. He states on his blog, On The Road With Pat Neshek, that he will sign all the cards you send him, but They "must be different cards, will sign one of every card no duplicates in mail."

Another good TTM responder, I sent to Mr. Miles after I sent a batch of TTM's I didn't expect to get back. He didn't fail to deliver. I am just starting to follow College football so my range hasn't really left the Pac 10. Of course I have heard of Mr. Miles, especially from my LSU friends, but nothing that I could confidently talk about.

The problem I am finding with trying to complete this set is that I am asking for Autograph returns from people I really don't know anything about. I am starting to feel bad. They take the time to respond and when I go to post I can't find anything to say. I do appreciate it, but if I were them I would wonder if it was just a waste of time.

The positive side is that I do get to learn about new athletes. What has happened is when I am get replies it really sparks me to find out about this individual who read the letter about me and my son and felt the urge to sign a card for us.

Mr Hayden was a very quick turn around.

I learned another lesson today with this return. Two lessons actually. One, use the baby powder technique on glossy cards. Two, make sure I fill out the back of the signature cards (as the athlete may just do it for you). I have sent a number of cards this way so I may be kicking myself again in the near future.

I sent James these cards on the September 14th 2009, and received it back 14 days later on the 28th.

Ok, now we have a card return for all of the themes I am going for. 2008 Allen and Ginter Base, 2009 Score Football Rookies, and now Super Bowl winning coaches.

This card was also very fast. I sent Coach Vermeil's card the same day I sent Mr. Snells. I am very pleased with this success.

The card was sent on September 14th 2009, and received back just 10 days later on September 24th.

I have been a fan of Mr. Jansen's since watching him race in the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. As a kid I wrote him requesting a TTM and he was one of the first to respond, along with Bonnie Blair.

I am very happy with every success I get. Each individual that takes the time to respond is amazing I can't imagine how much mail they get in a year. Having said that, I was amazed when I opened this envelope up and saw that David Wright had responded, and not just responded but responded quickly. It was a beautiful clean signature with his jersey number.

One of the themes I have been sending out recently have been rookies from the 2009 Score football set. Last year I bought a couple of the retail packs from score and really loved the brand. The packs were the cheapest in the store, yet the card design were fantastic. This year the design is not as good as 2008, but still for the price its pretty nice.

I sent Davon this card on the August 8th 2009, and received it back 21 days later on the 29th. The first TTM response I have gotten.
